Ancient Egyptian art was amazing... The statues, the jewelry, the temples... The finds in tombs, some of which survived by miracle up to our days. King Tutankhamon's tomb was the find of a century - yet in all probability his burial was put up hastily and could have been much bigger.
And the stories - ancient Egypt is so full of amazing stories. The hieroglyphs tell them to us from beyond thousands of years. The paintings and statues tell those stories too. Everything in Egyptian art had a deep meaning, nothing was unnecessary.
In their art the ancient Egyptians strived for ma'at - the balance, the proper way of things. Everything had to be kept in balance or else there would be chaos - and so we meet art that looks very much the same throughout their history.
I was lucky enough to be accepted to study Egyptology at the Manchester University and decided to combine my love of painting and love of ancient Egypt. I put up a blog where I show my paintings depicting the ancient art of Egypt.
You can see pictures of the painting process and comment on the paintings as well. I shall add facts about the object of my painting also, so if you are interested in Egyptology, you are invited.
The latest painting I am working on is a scene from Dendera: a wall relief of Cleopatra and Cesarion - the son of Caesar. You can go to my blog by clicking on the thumbnail of the painting.
