When I write this on August 27th 2011, I have had my Inspirational Short Stories website up and running for three years and four months. And I just want to write this little note as a thank you for Site Build It that really offered me all the help building a website that they gave me. I partly do this because I have wanted to, for a long time, and partly because as I was happily bipping along, writing my stories and loving the website building thing to the fullest, I have also heard of smear-campaigns that were directed towards SBI. I could not understand those because of my good experiences with SBI, and wanting to believe good things about everyone I took them as normal reviews – after all it is good that everyone can read the pros and cons of any project they are considering on embarking on. I know I did before I chose SBI. What I did not know is that there certain blog writers and reviewers were actually paid for trying to build a bad reputation for SBI. And that, in my opinion, is dirty work. So here I just want to write about my Building a Website For Dummies –process... If you ever consider building a website, I hope these experiences may help you in some way to decide which service provider you would like to choose. And remember that if anyone is trying to promote their own (or their affiliate) product by slandering others instead on concentrating on their product’s good points, you should hear warning bells loud and clear. In all probability their own product simply is not good enough to stand on its own with the other, good product, delivering the customers exactly what they want. You are not stupid, so you should be trusted to know yourself to use your intelligence and skills for comparing different products before making your decision. Trying to manipulate your decision by slandering is underestimating your intelligence. I, of course, searched the net for information on how a total dummy who knew nothing about html or any such weird things could actually build a website, not just a blog. (Nothing wrong with blogs, but I just felt it was not quite what I had in mind) I found a link in a forum to SBI’s page and clicked to get to their website – and I was overwhelmed. So much to read… But as I am a person who really studies things before making any decisions or leaps, I spent several days reading everything. And even though it at first felt like hype (and yes, even though I read some negative reviews on the net too, though I am not so sure of their integrity anymore), the whole system started to appeal to me. Promises of support and unparalleled tools even I could learn to use. Lots of promises… I read comments such as these and decided I would take the leap. I signed on SBI – and have never regretted it! When I watch my visitor stats today, I am nearly at 1 million pages read during these years. ONE MILLION! (Thank you, my wonderful readers!). Because of other life issues I have not always had time to write much, but SBI has taken care of promoting my website so that new readers interested in uplifting, positive stories have found me. No need for me to learn SEO. I build my pages using a block by block builder I cannot go wrong with. (Of course if you know HTML, you can download that directly but I have not had time to learn it). Once I have built a page, I use the analyzer tool which then tells me what I should tweak and where. And it is so easy to use - I write my stories fully beforehand, and then do tiny changes as suggested, as they will make my stories easier to find in search engines. After all - I want people to find my stories! I never change a story if I feel those changes would jeopardise what I wanted to tell. And yet, here I am approaching the ONE MILLION pages read. Wow... I never ever thought this would be possible when I started! If I have anything to ask, I have the best support team available. Many times I think I received an answer to my question before I hit enter! (And for no extra cost) And the SBI forums... Honestly, never have I met such a source of information and friendly help anywhere. With time this website building has become a passion. I love it, absolutely love it. And if you plan on changing your life and building a website, remember there are no get rich quick -things that work. Really, none. With SBI you get the tools, and all the help you need, but you need to build the website yourself. You have to work it,good oldfashioned work, but if you do, you will succeed. I have to say there are but a few things that are as satisfying as seeing your very own website form out of nothing, into something people want to visit and comment on. This really becomes a way of life. Below are some comments and videos from other SBIers who have taken the jump and built their sites. I have discussed with these people in the forums, they are real people. So check these out and decide for yourself. I wish you so much fun and satisfaction in building your very own website!! If only you knew how utterly satisfying it can be... Leena :) P.S. I have learned a few html codes along the way, but I still am a dummy when it comes to building a website. But you know what? Thank goodness I don't need to know more - I just don't have the patience or time to study any more computer language at this time of my life. I can concentrate on building my website and let SBI take care of all that techical stuff. How wonderful! My mom became interested in SBI! about a year after I started my first site. Since then she's been working on her own sites which are now bringing in a nice monthly income for her. Many people ask me about how I earn a living. They're all curious... lots of questions and a sparkle in their eye as they think about how they could do it too... and they could! In truth though, most of them don't. So seeing my mom go ahead and create her own success is incredible!"
