The story of the parrot Willie proves even birds can be heroes.

Willie´s owner Megan Howard babysat for a toddler and left the room when the child, Hannah, was eating her breakfast. She got something on her throat and began to choke.

Willie started flapping his wings and screamed "Mama! Baby!" which alerted Megan. She ran back and saved the child with a Heimlich maneuver.

Willie, a Quaker parrot, got the local red Cross Chapter Animal Lifesaver Award.
