Inspirational Short Stories, Issue #016 -- Read my NaNoWriMo novel for free

Hi

Read my NaNoWriMo Novel as I write it

Hi!

I’ve been busy with the editing work of Nephilim Quest 2 and with the writing and illustrations to the sequel of Mr Mummific’s book “How I Became a Mummy”.

But still, despite the fact my calendar is too full for my own good - I decided to have a go at the NaNoWriMo, the National Novel Writing Month.

The idea of NaNoWriMo is to write a 50.000 word novel in the month of November. So I decided that what the hey – I’ll try to do that. I’ll write something “from the seat of my pants” as the saying goes. That means I don’t plan the story too much beforehand but just let the words come and at the end of the month see how the story came out.

Of course I have an idea, and it mixes together ancient Egypt, sci-fi setting, a little sprinkle of dystopian worldview, magic and spells. So a fantasy story it is. I gave the story the work name “Space Witches”. The name may change, but at the moment that is it.

Now, 50.000 words in a month is a bit of a challenge so I thought maybe I’d get the motivation to go to the old keyboard and write, if I would have readers to motivate me.

And then the idea came: what if I share the story as I write it? Then I would simply have to keep up with the writing.

So that is what I intend to do. If you wish to read Space Witches fresh from the press, go to this page on my author website:

http://www.leenasbooks.com/national-novel-writing-month.html (copypaste this on your browser or use the live link at the end of the newsletter)

If you have allowed pop-ups on your computer, a form will open after a few seconds and you can send me your email address. If pop-ups are not your thing, scroll down and you will find a place to leave your email address.

You should get a confirmation email in a few minutes. If you don’t get it, let me know using the Contact Me –option at the very end of the page on leenasbooks.com.

No strings attached here – as the book is not published anywhere, I am not asking for reviews. It is enough for me to know that people are waiting for the next email to continue reading the story – and so I’ll do what NaNoWriMo is all about: write a book.

Just remember that this is not the edited version of the story. If it comes out ok and I decide to make it into a book, I’ll go through it with my editor and make it better. Still, here is a chance to see how an author works, and how the story is created real-time.

I'd love to see you on my reader team! (And if you know of friends who like fantasy with a little sprinkle of history and magic, you can forward this letter so they can sign up too)
