I just read at the BBC News page how a Labrador called Toby risked his life to protect his family.
A burglar had entered the house. Toby stopped him from getting to the sleeping family upstairs. The burglar had taken knives from the family´s kitchen and stabbed the dog four times. Still the dog chased him out and then woke the family by barking.
He was bleeding badly - his lung was punctured - but survived and was given the PDSA Certificate for Animal Bravery.
Jonathan and Samantha Morton, the owners of the dog, praise him.
"Toby is our hero. I dread to think what could have happened if he had not intervened that night." says Mr Morton.
